World Breastfeeding Week

August is officially a breastfeeding awareness month. The first week of August we celebrate the World Breastfeeding Week. 

I decided that I wanted to honor this week as breastfeeding is near and dear to me. I have breastfed two of my children, so I felt as if I knew how important it is to every breastfeeding momma to keep this memory for a very long time.

For this year I had an idea, a visual, of how I wanted to honor breastfeeding mommas. I definitely wanted to offer photo shoots to document their bond, but I did not know exactly how to approach it. Then, I stomped on Samantha Tollison's story on Instagram (she is also a DFW Birth Photographer!) who needed some inspiration for the photo shoot. I offered to partner and this how the story began!

Samantha shared that she had wanted to do a diaper drive to donate diapers to Woman to Woman Pregnancy Resource center in Denton, TX, and I supported it fully. It was very important to us to be able to provide these precious memories for the mommas. That is why we decided to host a celebration for Breastfeeding Week and to offer a photo shoot in exchange for diapers. 

Diaper Drive

We had 10 fantastic mommas attend our shoot out! How lovely it was to see the babies from youngest as 4 weeks to those older than 2 years. The mommas shared how special, but not always easy this journey is; how important it is to seek help when you feel like you struggle or have issues. 

When I shared the gallery with the mommas and received all the grateful responses it made feel as if it was my own Birthday. I felt so lifted, and my heart could just explode from all the joy I felt that day. It reminded me again how important it is just to give…
