All About Babies
Birth Center "All About Babies" - Argyle, TX
Midwives - Kassidy Grames, Kyndal Laird
Some births stay with you—not because they were fast or intense, but because they were deeply intentional, calm, and full of presence. This birth center birth in Argyle was one of those experiences that quietly reminds you how powerful and normal birth can be.
I arrived at the birth center just after 8 p.m. The space already felt warm and calm. The mother was preparing to welcome her fifth baby into the world, and what made this birth especially beautiful was that all of her children were there with her - the whole family was there. The kids did their own thing — read books and played quietly.
Active Labor
As the evening unfolded, labor continued steadily. The mother moved calmly, listening to her body. The father was by her side the entire time; his support was quiet but important. Watching the way he showed up for her was incredibly moving. As the night progressed, the energy continued to soften. One by one, the children found places to rest. Some curled up on chairs, others on the floor, wrapped in blankets. It felt like the best definition of normalizing birth: children growing up knowing that birth is something you live alongside, not something to be hidden away or feared.
Transition
Sometime between 2 and 4 a.m., the mother stepped into the bathtub to rest as she had a pushy feeling since 7cm dilated. The water offered comfort and grounding as labor continued.
One of the most remarkable parts of this birth was the birth team itself. Every support person present—the primary midwife, Kassidy, the second midwife, Kyndal, the midwife’s assistant, and even me—was pregnant at the same time. How cool is that?! There was something incredibly powerful about that shared experience: a room full of women holding space for birth while also carrying life of their own. It felt deeply meaningful.
And then the morning came...it's 7 am, the mom breathed out the baby with final pushes...I looked through the window and saw the sunrise with this view...
The baby is here, and the air in the room shifted. The kids woke up to meet the tiniest member of their family.
Birth doesn’t have to be dramatic to be powerful. It doesn’t have to be isolated to be sacred. Sometimes it looks like children sleeping nearby, a partner offering steady support,
